No, we don't have one yet... but wouldn't this be a cool building to put one in?
This is an abandoned building across the street from the T&P train station... it was originally the Fort Worth Recreation Building. Maybe we should start a non-profit dedicated to bringing a public velodrome to Fort Worth... a structure like this would be ideal, especially being so close to the train and all. Racers could bring their bikes on the train, and not even have to drive to the 'drome. Let's face it: driving to Frisco sucks.

OHMYGAWD! Do it! I'll do all I can to help. I mean, I need another reason to come back to DFW! Please!
That. would. be. awesome.
Are there grants for this kind of thing?
I'm in...let me know how I can help!
I know this building was for sale a while back for almost $2 Million.
I work near it and I would love to see almost anything happen to it, except more over priced condos.
Good Luck!
I recently tried to help a client purchase this building and owner/commercial realtor/fellow-past-chair-of-the-Landmarks-Commission Tom Reynolds told me that a deal was underway and it wasn't for sale. My guess, based on realtor rumors I've heard, is that it will be incorporated into a multi-million, multi-parcel mixed use development along Vickery. And no, there are no grants for this sort of thing. Again, there are NO GRANTS for old buildings. A very few states (Colo., NY) have a state historic preservation fund. Texas does not. Nothing in FW either. The closest you'll ever get here is federal historic tax credit (big commercial projects only) and historic site tax freezes (10 years w/ 30% reinvest; city property taxes only; commercial and residential, unless in TIF dist.)
I too, though, look forward to getting the great, yet neglected, prominent historic resource back into use.

Unfortunately, that'll never happen in the land of BIG REALTY.
MORE CONDO THAT THE WORKING CLASS CAN'T AFFORD! MORE MALLS THAT WILL BLEED MONEY!
MORE STUFF THAT NOBODY OTHER THAN THE DEVELOPERS AND THEIR CRONY POLITICIANS WANT OR NEED! MORE, MORE, MORE!
Good information from Joel Burns. And, Shaggy is correct. The working class always get screwed.
