A pair of green events...

PCB had a booth at a pair of green events this weekend. First, on Friday, I set up a booth at the annual city-sponsored Clean Air Fair downtown, where I spent a few hours promoting the ultimate clean air machine: the bicycle.

Then, Saturday, Jason worked a booth at PrairieFest 2007. If you've never been to Tandy Hills Nature Area, you need to check it out. It's the last remaining piece of native grassland in Fort Worth, and it's beautiful this time of year. There was great music, food, and even beer.

This is what native prairie looks like:

Our friend and neighbor James, of the Spiral Diner:

The fantastic Rahr Brewing Crew, including Chris here, were on hand with affordable and delicious locally-brewed beer (no $6 Coors here!), and they use renewable energy to boot:

And of course, no FW bike event would be complete without the Whistler and his beautiful daughter. They even rode a bike to the event, with Popo, so the grassland could be a little greener:

The pink bike is famous!

Most of you have seen my sweet new cargo rack on the pink bike, handbuilt by Lane Kagay (former messenger, and now proprietor of CETMA racks in Eugene, OR).

Well, now the pink bike is famous. See the CETMA Racks website, and look for the Surly (all loaded up and ready to party) in the picture gallery.

Ride to PrairieFest

I was going to punish Adam (see comments in thread below) by not publishing another blog entry for two weeks, but I've decided it wouldn't be fair to the rest of you readers.

There's a cool event going on in Fort Worth this saturday; so cool, in fact, that PCB is gonna have a booth there. So ride your bike over there with Pete and gang:

Semi-Celebrity News Flash!

Paparazzi have spotted Tim "MasiGuy" Jackson riding a bike in the dirt. This is shocking, since Jackson is a roadie, through and through. We love him that way, but hey... that Haro Mary SS with dirt drops sure looks like a good way for a roadie to enjoy the dirt. And check out that Jersey! I'm telling you, the man has style.

More pictures.

Next stop after the saucer was the Bull and Bush; for some reason at this point people started buying me shots of my favorite German beverage (besides Spezi, of course). They were delicious.

There were some dart games going on, so we waited our turn to get a board to play on:

For some reason after a few shots, my butt starts shaking all by itself:

Paul was sportin' the Shants:

Somebody started getting all artsy with the camera:

The boys had to wait for me because I forgot to turn the darts in at the Bull and Bush to get my ID back. Shortly thereafter, Pete's left crankarm wobbled loose, so a few of us rode up to the shop to get repair supplies:

We met back up at Ol' South Pancake House (open 24/7/365), where we ate and fixed pete's bike:

Adam got a little excited about his chocolate chip pancakes:

"It's doo-doo, bay-bee."

Satisfied riders:

The Whistler asked for it:

Thought I'd share some pictures of last Thursday's bicycle-powered batchelor party. It was very, very wet, so only the hardest-core bicycle-partiers attended. And they were justly rewarded, too.

Here's me, getting ready for battle with my WWII surplus German desert goggles:

Andy getting a head start on the pack:

The Whistler, ready to roll:

Why am I the only happy face in this bunch?

I love this picture of our departure; it shows just how wet it was, and it hadn't even started raining HARD yet:

We owe a big thank you to Marc (on the right), and his establishment The Flying Saucer downtown. They were gracious hosts, setting us up with great food and even better beer. They are by far the best pub in Sundance Square... check them out.

We had a great time up to this point and there was more to come; This was only our first stop, after all! Jason stopped taking pictures after the Saucer, though... Pete and Whistler, send me some of your pictures so I can finish the story!
