These guys all braved a nasty rain, flash floods, and flat tires, and they never really let any of that slow them down. I was out on the course checking in with some of our volunteers when I ran into Chuck and was amazed when he said he only had 2 stops left. I ended up having to race Chuck back to the finish, since I was the finish line judge. I beat him back, but not by much! Great ride, Chuck.

While the weather didn't "cooperate" with the race in the traditional sense, I'd venture to say it made the event a lot more interesting. There were lots of flat tires, illegible/lost manifests or maps, and other challenges only a day-long soaking rain can provide.

I want to give a big THANK YOU to our sponsors: KHS Bicycles, Masi Bicycles, Chrome Bags, the Fort Worth Cats, and Rahr & Sons Brewing all stepped up and made sure our riders and volunteers went home with a little something for their efforts. Thanks also to our volunteers who manned the signature checkpoints; we couldn't have done it without you.

There are LOTS of photos from this event that I will start posting over the next few days, so those of you who stayed home can see how much fun you missed.

I still can't believe I showed Chuck where that elevator was... He'd probably still be looking for it.

Man that was a blast. Can't wait to do it again. I was a little overwhelmed in the beginning since this was my first try at anything even remotely like this. Gutted it out though and had fun. The rain was a killer though.

Thanks to all the volunteers out there. It definately made it more fun for me. Even gave me encouragement when I needed it!

Oh. Haha. Upon further review, it appears I got a "DNS." That makes more sense. Sorry guys, I'm an idiot. I love you Bernie, you're the main man in my life.

DNF doesn't necessarily mean "Quit early and came back, whining".

It also could mean the navigator stepped on his willie and forgot a stop till it was too late to go back and pick it up.

Only hole in the day though, all the rest was gold.

Heh, Bernie: you guys do actually know my name, right?
