The stops are set; you will need to have the following items with you to race on March 19:
$8 entry fee (part of which will buy beer, part of which will be donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, on whose behalf members of the Dirt Dawgs are volunteering to give signatures at certain checkpoints) If you pay the entry fee by the 16th, it's only $5.
About $8-10 cash to make a few small purchases along the route. (Two of the three checkpoints will accept credit or check cards, so you could theoretically get by with 50 cents and a piece of plastic; but cash is quicker, if you're the competitive sort.)
A messenger bag, backpack, or some other means of carrying large-ish items with you on your bike.
A lock, to foil would-be bike thieves (a couple of the stops will require entering a building).
A pen, pencil, crayon, or other writing instrument.
The following items will be provided for you:
A manifest (list of checkpoints) and detailed instructions.
A detailed map of the race area, with all checkpoints marked.
A commemorative spokecard.
Refreshing beverages (read: beer) will be provided at the finish line. If you've got time to stick around after the race, plan to do so. After all, there will be beer to be drunk. There will be a grill going. We may do some impromptu trackstand contests, tricycle races, or whatever else the crowd seems interested in.
It will be a good time. Guaranteed.

Sweet. I'm fairly hyped about this.
One question though, just how big of an item are we talking about? Just trying to figure out which bag will be in my best interest since I gotta lug any extra stuff to work with me 'cause I'm leaving from there to head over.
The countdown begins...
Fairly Hyped? Just FAIRLY?
Is that the best you can do, Hasty?
How big is the largest item we'll have to pick up?
(how big of a bag do we need)
There won't be anything that won't fit in a normal messenger bag or back pack. A camelback probably won't cut it. Item sizes will vary a bit, but max will probably be 12"x12"x4". There will be more than one item, too, and all must be carried to the finish.
Make'em carry a case of beer. That is always fun!
That way you have something else to drink at the finish too...
