Please ride with lights at night.

This Star-Telegram story made me sad.

That is so true. Here in Arlington, people are very inconsiderate for bicyclist and their safety. The motorists are in too big of a hurry. I bet my paycheck that the police officer was focused on his mobile data computer mounted close to the dash. At night, the light displayed from the computer screen would have not allowed for immediate vision correction. And besides his attention could have been focused within the car and not on the road itself. Would a rear light have saved this rider? Are there too many distractions inside a motorized vehicle? I feel that being well illuminated at night is paramount for any rider. However, there are many factors that may have lead up to this tragic event unknown to us that will be, unfortunately swept under the rug by officials. I pray that justice will prevail for this bicyclist that was riding in a park. Lastly, how fast was that police car going in a relatively small park?
