That's my boy!

In a ride that should silence his critics, at least for a couple of days (that's right Lance, I'm talking about you), Jan Ullrich won the long Time Trial in the Giro yesterday.

Everytime a read a story about how Jan Ullrich is a waste of talent, overweight, blah blah blah, I get frustrated because I just don't see it. He didn't gain that much weight this winter. Sure, he had injuries that slowed his training, but now he's obviously back on track and flying. And he's done it all in the face of stinging criticism.

But let's face it, there's only one guy that's performed more consistently in the Tour for the last 7 years, and he's retired (He's also one of the quickest naysayers and kind of a jerk about Ullrich, but he's the only guy with the legs to back his criticism). Whether or not you believe he can do it, Jan has a very good chance at a victory in Paris, and I'll be cheering for him all the way.

Although I'm not picking him to win Le Tour, I think that Jan has been poked fun at enough about his weight. I mean, really, who doesn't gain a few pounds in the winter? He's HUMAN (gasp!)! Let him be. He's got more talent in his big toe than all those that write about thim being 'fat' and 'not ready'. He'll be just fine.
Barring injury, I'm picking Basso, though...it's an Italian thing.

I am picking Basso also, but this could be one of the best TDF in years.
