Cowtown Classic
Well, we rode the Cowtown Classic today, and it was brutal. The route was interesting, with a lot of fun twisty roads, but a few too many gravel trucks for my liking. There was a nice tailwind for the first 30 or so miles, but of course that means a headwind all the way back. A relentless headwind. A headwind that got continually stronger as the day went on. Wish you could have been there...

Brutal doesn't even begin to describe it. It was almost as bad as the old Bill Cosby skit:
Uphill, through the wind, both ways...
Did I mention that I don't like hills that much anyway? At least I found something I like even less (wind+hills).
Hasty!... at least I know you're still alive. I worried a little about you when I started running out of gas around mile 60 or so.
I'm convinced those hills would have been fairly easy if not for the wind today.
How'd the saddle work out?
Mile 60 was where I got my second wind (Thank God!). It was miles 45-59 that sucked.
I agree, the hills would have been better if the wind hadn't been so bad. At least I know a good spot to practice hills now. That little 68 mile loop down south had some decent hills, I bet it would be even better in the opposite direction.
The saddle is great. Still a little stiff, but much more comfortable on my "sit bones" than the stock saddle. Just need to get that middle part nice and soft.
