So, I leave my house at 6:30 this morning to ride for a couple of hours before work. The temperature was nice and cool thanks to the incoming rain clouds, so I was excited to hit the Trinity Trail and head out towards Gateway Park.
Unfortunately, my happiness to be riding quickly was overshadowed by my disappointment in my fellow citizens when I got into Trinity Park. The place is absolutely trashed this morning... firework remains and garbage as far as the eye could see. I mean, it was on the trail (I had to ride around several piles of debris), scattered throughout the grass, and even floating in the river.
July 4th is an important holiday for America, and I'm all for the traditional outdoor celebrations. But take your @#!*ing garbage with you when you leave the park.
Unless, of course, I was just sleeping in elementary school when they tought us that Independence Day was a time for Americans to come together to get drunk and trash the country.
